I was in English class today...we had to write a similies. It was tedious to me, I feel like an overachiever in that class. We had to choose to write on one of three topics. Now, I don't remember what the first two were. I was too wrapped up in the thrid topic. 'MUSIC' it said in bold black lettering 'MUSIC'. My mind raced as I started to write. We were only supposed to write one, but I wrote two, and that was restraining myself. After I shared, and one of my friends who is also bored in that class, and also an "overachiever", a guy asked me; "Why did you both write about music?"...before I could answer the teacher cut the conversation short. "Why did we choose music? As for my friend, I have no clue..." I wanted to say "But I can tell you why I did. I chose music because music is close to my heart, it fuels my life. No, wait, that's wrong. It is my life. It's my heart beat, my mind, body, and soul. It's every emotion tied up in one big crazy ball unraveling, and as it unravels, a new piece of the puzzle of life is revealed with a glimmering sheen of your own soul. It links you to the unknown and the possible and the impossible and all that you can and will and want to do. It is the purest, most perfect thing on earth that when created by one only in it to express and to share the truth of themselves, and it becomes one with all of us. I can tell you that music has been the driving force behind me when I have shut down and lost my will and hope and even...lost a little of myself. If it wasn't for the music inside of me, and found and created, I would almost definitely not be here today telling you about what it means to me. Think of it this way; a person is like a flickering candle. When the flame flickers, there is darkness. When it burns brightest, that means the oxygen levels are nice and high. Music is the oxygen that fuels the fire of life. The simple existence of it derives from when people were at their most animal stages of life, when we weren't even human...we've had music. So you see? That's why I chose music. That's what it means to me...that's what it means..."
